ADOPT A MEDIC
Supporting the ones who sustain our troops.
It is the goal of this organization to establish connections between medics and the membership for the purpose of providing individualized and personalized support. Focusing on military from West Texas, this organization recognizes the importance of the medic and aims to supply and re-supply its adopted troops with an excess of medically related supplied for the duration of the medics' tour of duty. We strive to make our medics exceptionally outfitted. We are a proud mission of the Lubbock Marine Parents Organization started by several concerned citizens who are proud of our people who have bravely sacrificed and put themselves in harms way.
Here's how it works:
- A confidential list of the medics and corpsmen contact information is maintained by an officer of our organization. Our care packages contents are very similar to those of the Lubbock Marine Parents mission. However, our mission specifically involves medical supplies. We highly recommend letters of support for our medics and the ones they sustain be sent with each shipment. With each shipment of supplies, a letter of support is sent from the Adopt A Medic officers. Although we do not reveal any contact information about the medics under our care, if you would like to include your contact information so that the medic receiving your supplies can contact you, then you are encouraged to do so.
Supplies-Donations REquested
There are 3 grades of care packages that donors can focus on: Grade 1, includes general, very basic supplies that can be purchased at Wal-Mart, (Tylenol, multi-vitamins, Vitamin C, Immodium AD, Advil, Alcohol swabs, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide). Grade 2 includes some of these basic supplies, but also non-pharmaceutical supplies like gauze, digital thermometers (with batteries), trauma shears, syringes, pen lights, ziploc storage bags, etc. Grade 3 would include sending special supplies and equipment that has most likely been requested by the medic him/herself. This equipment would include suture kits, tactical gloves, medical bags (small - large), specialized equipment cases. For more information on the various recommended grades, please visit our Supply Detail page.
Monetary donations are also welcomed. We are a mission of the Lubbock Marine Parents Organization so we are an official 501(c))(3) non-profit organization. Monetary donations help us with the cost of shipping the supplies to our troops. Individuals and/or entities who make monetary donations to the Adopt A Medic mission on the whole, and don't have a specific medic assigned, will receive general information about the progress of our outfit and the medics under our care.
